In response to the tragic devastation of the earthquake that struck Japan on March 11, 2011, the URJ has partnered with a number of Jewish organizations to form the Jewish Coalition for Japan Relief. Funds collected by the Coalition will be dedicated towards relief and recovery efforts.

Success was achieved in stopping a Knesset vote on the conversion bill. No issue in recent memory has so mobilized Jews from all streams and all parts of Israel and the Diaspora as has the bill proposed by MK David Rotem to vest authority for conversions in the hands of the Chief Rabbinate. Yet, there is more to be done.
