While NFTY lasts only four years, it is the beginning of a lifetime of Reform Jewish learning and friendships that last forever. NFTYites develop a sense of Jewish identity which they take with them through college and often become active in their campus Hillel or KESHER, Reform Jewish community on campus. After college, many NFTY alumni become active in synagogue life and have a strong sense of tradition which they bring into their homes and families. Many students who attend Hebrew Union College for rabbinical, cantorial, and Jewish education programs are NFTY alumni who dedicate themselves to teaching and guiding others in the Jewish community.
