CWR Culture

Frisbee: An enjoyable pastime.
Mongolia: Not actually a part of CWR, but that’s what we tell people (and all other regions believe us).  Are there even Jews in Mongolia?  Even the Diaspora has its limits…
Ninjas: Worse than pirates (see “pirates”).
Pirates: Better than ninjas (see “ninjas”).
sCWRmy: The CWR mascot.  He’s a sCWRel.  Get it?

CWR Traditions

  • We are the REGION OF LOOOOOOOOOOVE.
  • Our mascot is a squirrel spelled sCWRel.  His name is sCWRmy.
  • NFTY Notes are sold on Sunday morning.  Later in the morning, regional board members will distribute them.
  • At friendship circle on Sunday morning all the NFTYites throw their shoes into the center of the circle at the president after the president is done speaking
  • Closing Circle is sung every night in which we sing the Shema and Hashkiveinu.
  • Since Hawaii is in our region it is a custom to wear Hawaiian shirts on the first day of Convention or any other national event.
  • We tell people the Mongolia is part of our region.  Because it is.
  • At every regional event we play Assassin.
  • At the General Board meetings that happen at CMC and Spring Conclave, each TYG makes a sign that is put up at their area on the table.  Each regional board member also makes a sign with their name on it.  Many TYGs will dress up in a theme for the meeting.
  • At national board meetings the regional board dresses up.  We are the coolest and most creative region in the world and we are proud of it.  Recent dress-ups include “the incredibles” and the “justice league.”
