Acronyms and Organizations
CWR: “Central West Region”; our region (and easily the best region) in NFTY. Includes Northern California, Nevada, Utah, Hawaii, and Mongolia (see “Mongolia”).
Netzer Olami: The international youth Reform Zionist movement that NFTY has recently become a part of.
NFTY: “North American Federation of Temple Youth”; anyone who pays membership to a URJ TYG is a NFTY member
TYG: “Temple Youth Group”; your local youth group. NFTY is a collection of TYGs, and TYGs make NFTY what it is.
URJ: “Union for Reform Judaism”; The Reform movement that NFTY is the teen branch of.
People and Positions
Advisors: Adults who advise and mentor NFTYites in programming, logistics, administrative work and leadership skills
Board Positions: The positions on TYG and regional boards that plan and run events. The positions ranked highest to lowest (as a formality, not by importance) are: President, PVP (Programming VP), SAVP (Social Action VP), RCVP (Religious Cultural VP), MVP (Membership VP/Most Valuable Player), CVP (Communication VP), and Treasurer (TVP). This specific order is called “Gavel Order,” and the voting members of a board are the top few board members in this order.
Extended Board: Extended positions to help the Regional Board. Applications are handed out at CMC and positions will be announced at Fall-Inter.
NFTYite: You. Yadidimean?
Regional Board: Seven elected members who create all programming for and run CWR events. They also represent CWR in the rest of NFTY and the URJ.
