Let me let you in on a little secret about our job as CVP, we are the board position that make our TYGs work! In order for your TYG board to be successful they need YOU to hold the TYG together. So what do CVPs do you ask? Check it out.
Before a meeting:
• Make sure that the news of a meeting gets out to board members beforehand. Remember they need to be aware of the right date, time, and place of the meeting.
At a meeting:
• Besides the normal roles of active participation at board meetings, make sure that you take minutes and take note of everything that gets said or is presented on the agenda.
• Aside from the president’s gracious attempt to keep the board on task and friendly, it is your job to make sure that your board is all on the same page, both in business and recreation. This is crucial to the productivity of the board.
• Before leaving make sure all board members are on the same page and will be able to correspond with one another when the whole board isn’t together.
After a meeting:
• Type up and distribute the minutes to the other board members.
• Complete any task, which you were assigned or agreed to do: make fliers, send out mailings, and get the news out that an event is taking place!
• Make sure that all board members and TYG members are aware of what is going on within your TYG and NFTY.
Before an event:
• Send out fliers, emails, and snail mail, set up an event on Facebook, and get RSVPs of everyone who will be attending the event. Make sure that the news of the event gets out, the more people who know about the event means that more people will come to the event!
• Check in with your other board members. After all you are what holds your TYG together, offer to help the other officers and make sure that everyone is still on task so that the event will run smoothly.
At an event:
• By the time an event rolls around your job is almost done. You should know how successfully your job was accomplished by the turn out of people and the smoothness of the event.
• Take pictures and lots of ‘em! This is a great way to document the amazing event that is being held by your TYG. Then by the end of the year you will have pictures from each event that you can use in slideshows, yearbooks, or for your TYGs website.
• Don’t forget at the event that you are still a board member, remember that your actions should dictate as so. Running an event is a team process; if your fellow board members need help, lend them a hand!
Being a cvp is amazing because we have the biggest opportunity to revolutionize our board position. Along with all your other responsibilities you can take your job to the highest level by creating newsletters, slideshows, yearbooks, a website, or anything else you can think of to take cvp to the max.
We all know that this is the best board position so don’t forget to be creative, use your imagination, and most importantly…HAVE FUN!!!
