Things to do with new members

  • Name tags
  • Introduce TYG board (so members know who to approach if they have questions)
  • Fun programs
  • New Members’ packet (be sure to define the NFTY/TYG jargon, such as words like NFTY, TYG, and jargon)
  • Mailings (online or offline)
  • Big Brother/Big Sister
  • Get info (name, address, phone number, email, etc.)
  • Promote your next event
  • Mixers

Ways to communicate to perspective and current members

  • Flyers
  • Phone tree
  • Post cards
  • Bulletin Boards
  • Monthly Calendar
  • Temple Newsletter articles
  • Word of mouth
  • Announcements from the Bimah
  • Web site

Ways to keep members coming back
(THIS IS WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT IN THE LETTER: VERY IMPORTANT)

  • Balanced programming: social, religious, social action
  • Cheap or free events
  • Good communication (keeping calls and communication consistent)
  • New activities
  • Avoid cliques
  • Be original (in event ideas, program ideas, mixer ideas, etc)
  • Socialize with other TYGs
  • Assign jobs/ ask for help and input in planning an event
  • Do things that people can’t always do by themselves (meaning things that your TYG can offer that other places can’t… utilize resources)
  • Food (but that was a given)
