(Here is a simple guide to writing out a program. Use this to help you get started...)

Touchstone Text: is a new element of the NFTY Program Format. Like goals and objectives, the Touchstone Text guides the program. It is a Jewish text relevant to the program, serving as the basis of the program or the background info for the program.

Goals: Explain what you want your program to accomplish and what you want participants to learn. (This can be a quick sentence or two).

Objectives: Take a step back and look at what is happening in your program. Outline what participants will walk away with at the end.

Materials: List all of the things that you need for this program.

Procedure: Write down the entire program and how everything happens.

Timeline: This is very helpful. It breaks up the different parts of the program. Make sure to include time for group transitions, location changes. Use your time sparingly, do not “waste” or schedule too much time. It is hard to fill dead time. At the same time, allot enough time for each activity so that groups are not rushed.

Attached to the format sheet should be all other written materials, (articles, worksheets, etc.).
NOTE: Be sure that your group leaders have read through and are familiar with the program. A program is only as good as its leaders.

EXAMPLE:

Touchstone Text: L’dor v’dor.

Goals: To explain this format sheet.

Objectives: The MVP Network will have a resource to help them in formally writing out their programs. At the end, they will understand, take home, and hopefully use this format sheet.

Materials: MVP Network Packet

Procedure:

  1. Regional MVP will go through, read and explain each item on the format sheet.
  2. After the format sheet is explained, the regional MVP will answer questions.
  3. After all the questions are answered, we will continue to the next order of business

Timeline:
0:00-0:03 Read format sheet
0:04-0:06 Answer questions
0:07---pending---
