“I am only one.  But still I am one.  I cannot do everything, but still I can do something.  I will not refuse to do the something I can do.” –Hellen Keller

Here’s some stuff you can do.

  • Start a letter writing campaign.
  • Invite speakers who support causes you’re interested in
  • Show a video to help educate your TYG
  • Run a “Shul In” or a whole event dedicated to your project
  • Plan a simulation program
  • Make your social action project coincide with a religious holiday to get your whole temple involved (Passover, a holiday of freedom, talk about slavery.  Tu B’shevat, deal with environmental issues, etc.
  • Hold an –athon (walkathon, bowlathon)
  • Have fundraisers (bake sales, car washes, etc.)
  • Start long term involvement with a local organization like an old age home, hospital, or rehab center.
  • Create outlines of advocacy letters to give out at services.  If you do the congregants work for them, they’re more likely to send the letter.
  • Get involved with Social Action committees at your temple.  Make sure the adults know that your TYG is committed to Social Action
  • Make bringing can food goods a part of the cost of a regular event
  • Sign people up for RAC news!

BE CREATIVE.  You have the potential to do a world of good!
