The Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism (the RAC) is the Reform Jewish voice in Washington, D.C.  It educates and mobilizes the Reform Jewish community nationwide about and for a plethora of social issues such as environmental policy, Israel, religious freedom, the death penalty, international slavery, and more.  It has helped push through a lot of important legislation in the interest of our Jewish community, and helped fight legislation that opposes our views.  Luckily for us, the RAC love NFTY and realizes the power that youth has.  They take us very seriously, so contact them, play with them, USE THEM.

  • Sign up for the RAC e-newsletter, RACNews.  It keeps you informed about important issues, events, and letter writing campaigns.
  • Sign up others for RACNews
  • Go to www.rac.org and research any issue that interests you.
  • Visit RAC’s NFTY section.  It has social action programming suggestions and a whole bunch of information on our action theme.
  • Email the RAC.  They’re lovely people.  If you want to do a program, email them, and they will email you with background information, statistics and more.
  • Encourage your Synagogue to participate in L’taken seminars at the RAC.  It is for juniors and seniors to learn about relevant issues and advocate in D.C. with other NFTYites who love social action.
  • Through the RAC, you can email you representatives regarding bills.  They have prewritten letters that you can add to or edit.
  • Find up to date information about how your representatives voted on any current bill.
  • Spread the word to your TYG.  Let them know what the RAC lets you know!
  • Learn to love the RAC.  It’s truly amazing!
