Julie Horowitz- I belong to Temple Har Shalom. My strong Jewish identity is a product of my years at Camp Harlam and a family history of activity in NFTY GER. My mother, my Uncle and my sister were all NFTY officers! I have made amazing friends and know myself better due to NFTY. My summer job is conducting genetic research, I serve as President of the Mock Trial Team and I babysit.

Alexa Maltby-Alexa is a Junior at East Brunswick High School. She is the Programming Vice President for AETY and is the UMC Student Coordinator. Alexa is both a Bay Area and Urban Mitzvah Corps alum. She is going back to Urban Mitzvah Corps this summer. In her spare time, Alexa enjoys playing basketball and golf. She also enjoys scrapbooking, watching Parks and Recreation, baking, riding her bike, and dancing to the Spice Girls.

Lev Freedman-Lev Freedman is a junior in high school, a drummer, and has been a member of the varsity tennis and ski teams for multiple years. He loves The Tallest Man on Earth, John Mayer, and can’t decide how he feels about dubstep. He enjoys relaxing walks, active activities, and writing poetry. On the days he’s not busy, he spends his time hanging out with friends and thinking about NFTY-GER.

Jonah Stern- Jonah is
a junior in high school. He is the oldest
of three brothers in his family. Today he serves as Religious/Cultural
Vice President of his TYG, AETY. He has served on AETY board since his
position as freshman representative. Jonah was born in Manhattan, New
York. He hopes to attend University there, and study medicine. Jonah
currently lives and studies on Kibbutz Tzubah, just north of Jerusalem.

Nicole Bard- Nicole Bard is your NFTY GER Membership Vice President! She is a junior at Clarkstown North High School. She currently serves as BSTYG’s Membership Vice President and works in her Hebrew school as a teen aid. Nicole loves the color purple, painting and the summer time! She recently went to NFTY Convention in Los Angeles and loved meeting people from all of the 19 regions of NFTY! Nicole also enjoys baking cupcakes and spending time with her family, but most importantly, she loves going to NFTY-GER events and seeing all the incredible people! Yay!

Zachary Gischner-Zachary Gischner is a junior at Suffern High School and has been the RCVP of SVFTY for two years and the Technology Chair for NFTY GER for one. He also helped plan and run Hagigah Kallah this year. Zachary is very involved with his schools Orchestra and Spring Musical and has been in the Pit Orchestra for Phantom of the Opera, Sweeney Todd and West Side Story. He attended Urban Mitzvah Corps this past summer.

Benjamin Bass-Benjamin is TEWTY’s Programing Vice President. He is a sophomore at Westfield High School. He went to Camp Harlam for six years and is going to Israel this summer with NFTY. He is a teacher’s assistant at his Religious School, and also volunteers at his Temple’s feeding program. For fun he likes to hang out with friends and family, surf at the beach and support the NY Giants.

GERites! I’m SaraAnn Stanway. I’m a lifelong Harlamite and a super SALTY sophomore from Ocean
Township. I love anything to do with literature and writing, and when I
grow up, I want to be Shel Silverstein. If you’re ever unsure of where
to find me, just check the children’s section of your public library,
where I’ll be reading poetry and pretending I’m back in the good old
days of macaroni art and bedtime stories.

Cori Schimko- Cori Schimko is a student at North Rockland High School. She has been the PVP for BSTYG for 2 years. She went to Surprise Lake Camp for 5 years and attended UMC in 2012. She is the film and photography advisor for the NRHS Writers club, the treasurer of the NRHS Italian club, and an active member of the NRHS Drama Society. She loves singing opera, watching Rupaul’s Drag-race, writing screenplays, and of course NFTY-GER!

Alex Lockey -
Alex is currently a junior in high school and is from Rockland County, NY.
She has served on her board as President for two consecutive terms after being
promoted from Membership Vice-President. Attending URJ Kutz Camp was a
life-changer for Alex, where she majored in TYG leadership and hopes to go back
and inspire other teens to lead and improve their TYGs. In her spare time when
she’s not working on BSTYG or helping at temple, Alex loves to laugh, watch
movies, drink tea, and of course go to NFTY events.
