NFTY-MAR brings together Reform Jewish Teens from North Carolina, eastern West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, Washington DC, Delaware and far-eastern Tennessee. Our members come together at many times during the year for learning, fun, worship, community service, and fellowship to help young Jewish adults throughout the region build and strengthen lifetime ties with each other and Reform Judaism. I am writing this blog with a smile on my face. To be honest, I could not be more proud to be a part of NFTY-MAR this year. Our fundraising efforts have surpassed my wildest dreams.

On Sunday, March 10, my temple, Judea Reform, held our Mitzvah Day. Through extensive planning with the DRTY board, we had created a day of relaxed fun and volunteering.

Walking into the Hebrew Union College for a Jewish weekend retreat, I have to admit- I was exceptionally nervous. I knew almost nothing about the weekend, except that it was going to be about identity and creativity in Judaism. Immediately, however, my fears lessened when I was welcomed warmly by the staff and a few fellow teens who had already arrived.

Social action and volunteering, friends, expanded horizons, and fun, are all part of the Mitzvah Corps experience. With Mitzvah Corps, Jewish teens experience social action at its best. Make YOUR mark this summer!
