TYG Name: CHATY
Stands for: Chaverim Temple Youth
Temple Info: Chaverim Temple, Plainview NY
“Meet My TYG” Personal Info:
Once upon a time, there were some Reform Jews
The first CHATY member saw LIFTY when it was putting out its pews
We range from grades nine through twelve-is
We've been known to spend our free time dancing to Elvis
We go to the city to have good dinners
When you are with CHATY, you are always a winner
After having a tie for a tzedakah choice,
we needed our caterer to provide an extra voice
When we chose Little Shelter, dogs barked with glee
as they heard CHATY would help to alleviate their flees.
Apples to apples is our preferred game
If you refuse to play with us you are really lame
CHATY, as we are the chattiest of chatters can be, but in the end we are nothing but mad hatters.

TYG Name: J.tel
Stands for: Jewish Teen Experiential Learning
Temple Info: North Shore Synagogue, Syosset NY
“Meet My TYG” Personal Info:
J.tel covers teens from eight grade through their senior year in high school. J.tel is essentially Hebrew High School and Youth Group in one lovely two-hour package. Programming for the night is written by members of the board, and they cover a broad range of topic. Each night, we are graced by two fantastic Rabbis who do "Ten Minutes of Torah" on the topic that will be discussed that evening. We have about 30 registered members, and about 25+ come on a weekly basis. We also love NFTY-NAR in a big way.

TYG Name: ONESY
Stands for: Temple Am Echad (ONE) Senior Youth (Hebrew: echad=one); formerly TELY and SALTY
Temple Info: Temple Am Echad: South Shore Reform Congregation (Lynbrook, NY); formerly Temple Emanu-El of Lynbrook and Temple Sinai of Lawrence
“Meet My TYG” Personal Info: ONESY is the senior youth group at Temple Am Echad, the brand new product of a merger between Temple Emanu-El of Lynbrook (TELY) and Temple Sinai of Lawrence (SALTY). We are named after our favorite type of pajamas, and of course, our name is also symbolic of the “one people” and “one-ness” which we strive to become/achieve. ONESY is specifically for high school students, but beginning in the late-winter to early-spring we invite our eighth graders to events to give them a taste of what’s to come. Our younger sides, Junior Youth Group (JYG: grades 6-8) and Am Echad South Shore Kids (AESH, which means “fire” in Hebrew: grades 4-5), are an important part of who we are as we often attend and help coordinate their fun events. We are currently home to about fifteen wonderful members! We meet every Wednesday night, with approximately one or two Board Meetings per month and the rest of our nights filled with programs, intelligent discussions, and oodles of laughs! Every year, we host two Shul-Ins and rock out at a major, congregation wide ruach service. In addition, we lead Youth High Holiday Services, coordinate a huge food fundraiser called Halloween for the Hungry, and throw a DJ produced dance party. We also have various other events that change year to year. Some examples of these are leading Havdallah at Temple programming, participating in social action projects like our recent work with the Haiti Relief Fund, Coffee Houses, nights “out on the town,” trips, and much more. We love NFTY and we love NAR and all of our friends there. We care deeply about others, Israel, and our planet. Our favorite games are Table Tennis and Foosball (which are conveniently located in our youth lounge), laser-tag, and Apples-to-Apples. Currently, we are sending around our social action bear, Una, to TYGs across NAR. Please take pictures with her as you do tikkun olam and pass her along! (Ask us if you’d like her to be delivered to you, next!) Also, please contact us if you are interested in doing joint youth group events and anything else along those lines as we love to get together and have fun with other TYG’s!

TYG Name: TISBY
Stands for: Temple Isaiah of Stony Brook Youth
Temple Info: Temple Isaiah, Stony Brook, NY
“Meet My TYG” Personal Info: TISBY was created a long time ago by a person who is likely in their fortys now. We arent entirely sure who this person is, we just know that they are existant. TISBY's seniors include teens from 9th-12th grade, and also has two divisions of junior youth groups, with the Junior division(grades 5-7) and the Inter division(grades 7-8). We have approxamately 15 to 20 members of the senior youth group, and we are proud of our close-ness. Aside from meeting on Sunday nights from 5-7 pm weekly, we run events at our temple such as the Latke Bash, Purim Carnival, and end-of-the-year barbecue. We usually refer to our mascot as a Tiger, but we have too many interesting characters in our TYG that we just cant pick only one! We exist, we promise.
