5767-5768 NFTY Action Theme: Kach et HaKoach
Initially presented as a “color war” competition specifically designed to expose participants to discrimination, this program evaluates the prejudices that Jews and other minorities still face today. The program concludes with an action-based component, which focuses on global discrimination. Estimated Running Time: 1 hr 30 min.
Focusing on the significance of symbols (specifically those of discrimination), this program first educates participants on the symbols, and then exposes them to these symbols’ implications in hate crimes through simulations and group discussions. Estimated Running Time: 1 hr.
Designed as an introduction program for this year’s action theme, this program allows participants to explore the biases in the media and encourages participants to question and research before accepting stories and opinions as facts. The final component of the program is the action theme video. Estimated Running Time: 1 hr.
Written and initially run by the 5767-5768 Regional Board Track at the URJ Kutz Campus, this introductory program explores the Action Theme through several games designed to identify personal and societal biases. Also presents the action theme video. Estimated Running Time: 35 min.
Relating children’s games to the action theme, this program primarily explores the development of the method with which we interpret global issues. Estimated Running Time: 1 hr.
