Regional Board
NFTY SoCal 2011-2012 Regional Board
PRESIDENT: DANIEL KIPNES
A unique blend of passion and responsibility.
Listening won't help you find him; he loses his voice every NFTY Shabbat.  However, he's easy to spot in his outlandish bowtie-suspenders combo.  Daniel loves Frisbee, summers at Camp Newman, and quoting Scrubs.  On Sundays, Daniel instills Jewish Values in his 3rd grade Religious School students, as he works to raise money for his anticipated NFTY Netzer year in Israel.  Daniel constantly seeks meaningful opportunities to lead.

PROGRAMMING VP: DAVID LAUTERBACH
David Lauterbach, also known as "baseball Google" at your local baseball stadium, lives and breathes NFTY and baseball.  When not at a NFTY event or Dodger game, David likes to eat Israeli chocolate while watching Pixar movies, play golf with his school team, announce his school's sports games and play jazz trumpet.  Two summers ago David went on NFTY in Israel and participated in the inaugural Shlichut Noar seminar, training young NFTY ambassadors to Israel.  Since starting at Milken in 9th grade, David has grown as a Jew through is position as MVP of LoMPTY and his amazing experiences as PVP in NFTY SoCal.

SOCIAL ACTION VP: MAYA POLON
Maya Polon is a senior at Burbank High School.  She has a fear of people touching her neck, and when people touch her neck she pulls it in like a turtle.  She loves soda water (especially Pellegrino), and diet coke because they make her nose fizzy.  Maya has a very bubbly personality (perhaps because she drinks so many bubbly drinks), and wants to be your best friend...seriously.  She enjoys making up words like "fantazmical," and works them into her daily vocabulary.  She describes herself as ridiculous, but in the best way possible.

RELIGIOUS & CULTURAL VP: ERICA TOOCH
There once was a girl with a tambourine at her side
Who traveled through Israel with great ruach and pride.
Last year she worked on her WBTY board
With many friends whom she adored.
Every Sunday she's a 7th grade Ozer
For the Jewish community, about which she cares.
She has gone to Camp Hess Kramer for the past ten years
And at Camp Harmony she's learned to be a leader alongside her peers.

MEMBERSHIP VP: ALYSSA MAGIER
Alyssa Magier was introduced to our world on April 18, 1994.  More importantly, she was introduced to the world of NFTY in October of 2008.  A natural born leader with a strong work ethic and loads of determination, the magic of NFTY captured her and inspired her to work hard to reach her fullest potential.  She served as both SAVP and President of her youth group.  For both the 2010-2011 and current year, she MVP of SoCal.  Alyssa enjoys learning people's life stories, singing along to Chicago, chai lattes, and of course, Gaga.  She loves being a part of this incredible NFTY SoCal community.

TREASURER: LEAH HENNES
Meet Leah Hennes.  She's an active member of her TYG, OLIM, and spent last year as their MVP.  She loves munching on cupcakes, dancing the day away, and meeting new friends.  This past fall, Leah spent four months in Israel furthering her knowledge of Judaism and building a stronger love for the land.  She thrives on creating new perspectives to view the world from and loves listening to people speak their mind. Her enthusiasm for leadership shows through her actions and passionate interest in making the world a better place.

HISTORIAN: ADAM GOULD
Passion is the driving force behind Adam Gould's desire to serve as the Historian of NFTY SoCal.  After having served on LoMPTY's board for two years as the Programming Vice President, Adam is ready to enlarge his leadership role.  When he is not running track, eating, or listening to Taylor Swift, Adam loves participating in NFTY and temple youth group events (in TYGs region wide).  Above all, Adam values the memories and connections established in the NFTY community.  To him, the memories created in the NFTY community are something that can never be replaced.  This is why he serves as your Historian - in order to ensure that just like a photograph, NFTY memories will last a lifetime.  Adam loves the notion of capturing a memory and displaying it for the world to appreciate.  Adam truly loves meeting new people.  He believes that the friendships make through the NFTY community are the friends that will take you through life, and adding to this idea, Adam not only wants friendships to last a lifetime, but also the memories of each and every NFTY event.
